Perera graduated with an LLB (Hons), 2nd Class, from the Staffordshire University, UK, in 2018, following which she enrolled at Sri Lanka Law College to complete her bar examinations and was called to the bar in the year 2023. She is currently engaged in her postgraduate studies, working towards the completion of her Masters in Conflict and Peace Studies at the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Colombo.
She also holds a Diploma in Diplomacy and World Affairs from the Bandaranaike International Diplomatic Training Institute (BIDTI), Colombo, and several other certificates from the Bar Association of Sri Lanka in Contract Drafting and Company Secretarial Practice. Perera is also a freelance Journalist with experience in both news and feature writing.
Perera focuses her research on sustainable peace and development challenges, conflict management, transformation and resolution strategies, international peace processes and practices, as well as international law and diplomatic relations.
She joined the faculty as a full time Lecturer in 2022 and is presently the module Lecturer and Tutor for several foundation and first year modules, including; Law in Practice (Level 4), Legal Skills and Critical Thinking (Foundation) and Legal Systems and History (Foundation).
