Teaching & Learning

The themes of (1) digital skills, (2) entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship, (3) society, ethics and commmunity, (4) sustainability and climate change, and (5) research methods and inquiry are embedded throughout the curriculum.
There is a focus on employability throughout the three awards. The common modules in the first year cover careers talks, visits and guest speakers from industry along with the opportunity for students to take up a role within the team on live projects throughout their course. In the second year, students will develop their reflective practise when they are assessed on their employability skills that complement the business skills they have developed. In the final year, students will apply their skills whilst researching a topic in a ‘consultancy’ based module. Students will also have the opportunity to explore the development of their own business.
Throughout the course, assessments are usually case study based simulations or linked to real-life business challenges. There are numerous additional learning opportunities embedded into the curriculum which involve practical work and industry collaboration. For example, students will undertake a feasibility study and identify the potential for a new social enterprise by developing an entrepreneurial solution to address the social issue which has been identified. Students will also have the opportunity for consultancy work for a real-life organisation by working alongside the latter to identify and resolve an issue faced by the business.
